City of Austin Closures for Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2026

Most City of Austin administrative offices and other municipal facilities will be closed Monday, Jan. 19, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Normal business hours will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 20. 

These City services will continue to operate as usual:

City of Austin Utilities Payments - Customers can make payments online at coautilities.com or by calling 1-833-375-4949. In-person payments are accepted at most H-E-B, CVS, Randall's, and Walmart stores.

Austin Resource Recovery Curbside Collections - Curbside collections will follow regular schedules and will not be affected by the holiday. Customers can check their collection schedule anytime in the Austin Recycles app or at austintexas.gov/myschedule. The Recycle and Reuse Drop-off Center will be closed, but Austin Water's Hornsby Bend Biosolids Management Plant will be open regular hours (8 a.m. - 3 p.m.) for yard trimmings and large brush drop off.

Austin Parks and Recreation - City parks, golf courses, tennis centers and cemeteries will be open. Offices, Recreation and Senior Centers will be closed. Year-round pools will be closed except for Barton Springs Pool which will be "swim at your own risk." Hours vary by location and inclement weather could impact availability so please visit the Parks and Recreation and Park Closures pages for up-to-date details.

The City recommends utilizing the following public resources, if needed during the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
