On April 1, 2026, participants in the UNA-NYC Worldview 2026 seminars program gathered for a guided visit to the iconic United Nations Headquarters, a centerpiece of international diplomacy situated along the East River in New York City. The visit offered attendees a first-hand encounter with the physical and symbolic heart of global diplomacy and cooperation.

The tour introduced participants to several of the most significant spaces within the complex, including the renowned General Assembly Hall, where representatives from all 193 Member States convene to deliberate on issues of global importance. Visitors also explored corridors that chronicle the institutional memory of the United Nations, including the gallery of portraits depicting former Secretaries-General, figures whose leadership has shaped the organization across decades of geopolitical change.

A highlight of the outdoor portion of the visit was the opportunity to view the striking bronze sculpture Sphere Within a Sphere by Arnaldo Pomodoro. Installed in the UN garden, the piece is characterized by its fractured outer shell revealing intricate inner forms, inviting reflection on the complexity and fragility of the world order, an especially resonant symbol for those engaged in international dialogue.

Following the tour, the group gathered for an evening meal at Shun Lee Palace, a longstanding culinary institution located just a short distance away. The dinner provided an opportunity for informal exchange and continued discussion, allowing attendees to reflect on the day's experiences in a congenial setting.

Worldview 2026 represents a primary example of UNA-NYC's mission to foster informed global citizenship. Through a direct encounter with the spaces and symbols of international cooperation, participants gained a deeper appreciation of the UN's ongoing relevance, and of their own role in supporting dialogue across cultures and nations.
