WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Representative Emilia Sykes (OH-13) released the following statement on the gas explosion in Twinsburg Township Thursday that destroyed three homes, damaged additional residences, and prompted a shelter-in-place order for nearby residents:
"I am relieved that no lives were lost in the gas explosion in Twinsburg Township, even as we continue to see the significant destruction it caused to homes and the disruption it brought to the surrounding community. My thoughts are with the families who lost their homes or were evacuated, and with everyone now beginning the recovery process. This is a frightening incident, and our neighbors deserve clear answers and support as the investigation continues. I want to thank the first responders, fire personnel, and utility crews who responded quickly to secure the area and prevent an even greater tragedy. My office will remain in close contact with local and state officials to ensure impacted families receive the resources and assistance they need as they recover.
