The University of Iowa Office of Community Engagement has named the Iowa City Senior Center its 2026 Outstanding Community Partner, recognizing the Center's sustained collaboration with university faculty, students, and research teams.
The award is selected each year from the many community partners who work with the University of Iowa across the state. The Iowa City Senior Center, a department of the City of Iowa City, was recognized for its longstanding partnerships supporting student field placements, applied learning, and community-engaged research focused on adults 50 and older.
The Senior Center collaborates with multiple University of Iowa colleges and units, including the School of Social Work and the Institute for Clinical and Translational Science. These partnerships have hosted student interns, supported federally funded research projects, and contributed to programming that connects generations and strengthens healthy aging across the community.
The Iowa City Senior Center is located at 28 S. Linn St. and offers programs in wellness, lifelong learning, social connections, and community engagement for adults 50 and older, thanks to its constant collaboration with over 90 community partners.
