DGA Chair Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear released the following statement on Representative Jermaine Johnson securing the Democratic nomination for governor in South Carolina:

"Congratulations to Representative Jermaine Johnson on becoming the Democratic nominee for governor in South Carolina. Rep. Johnson believes in the power of hard work and perseverance - and that everyone deserves the opportunity to build a better life. Rep. Johnson is known as a leader who keeps his promises and has gotten results on everything from lowering costs to fixing roads and bridges. As governor, Rep. Johnson would cut taxes for working South Carolinians, make it easier to build homes families can afford, and expand Medicaid. After two decades of one-party rule in South Carolina that has led to high costs and less access to health care, the DGA is proud to work alongside Rep. Johnson as he fights for a brighter future in his state."
