Presidential Appointments Sent to the Senate for Confirmation

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces that four appointments made by President Claudia Sheinbaum have been sent to the Senate for confirmation.

Of the four nominees - two women and two men - three are members of the Mexican Foreign Service. All have been charged by President Sheinbaum with defending national interests and providing dedicated support to Mexican communities abroad.

  • Cristina Planter Riebeling, as Undersecretary for North America. She is currently serving as acting Undersecretary for North America and has been Director General for Diplomatic Strategy since August 2021. A member of the Mexican Foreign Service, she has served in the Office of Regional Organizations of the Americas and the Office of Special Affairs. She holds a bachelor's degree in International Relations and a master's in International Economics and International Affairs from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).
  • Roberto Lazzeri Montaño, as Mexico's Ambassador to the United States. He currently serves as Director General of Nacional Financiera (NAFIN) and Bancomext. He previously served as chief of staff to the Finance Secretary, and within that ministry held the positions of Director General for Training and Director General for Public Debt. He holds a bachelor's degree in Economics.
  • Pedro Blanco Pérez, as Mexico's Ambassador to India. A member of the Mexican Foreign Service, he most recently served as head of the Representative Office in Palestine. He has been posted to the embassies in the United Arab Emirates, Korea, and Singapore, as well as to Mexico's consulate in Albuquerque.
  • Alicia Buenrostro Massieu, as Mexico's Ambassador to the Netherlands. A member of the Mexican Foreign Service, she has served as Alternate Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York since 2021. She has been posted to the embassies in the United Kingdom, the United States, and Spain, and has served as Consul General in Hong Kong and Ambassador to Austria. She holds a bachelor's degree in International Relations.
