Tower Health Recognized as a Top Health System in PA for Promoting Organ Donation

Tower Health and each of its four hospitals are receiving statewide recognition for their efforts to support and raise awareness about organ, eye, and tissue donation.

Tower Health is among the three top-performing health systems for Eastern Pennsylvania in The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania's (HAP) 2025 Donate Life Pennsylvania Hospital Challenge. The health system's four hospitals were individually honored for their efforts as part of the challenge: Phoenixville Hospital, Pottstown Hospital and St. Christopher's Hospital for Children­ each earned Titanium status, the top level in the competition. Reading Hospital was recognized with the Platinum award.

The annual campaign encourages Pennsylvania hospitals to increase organ, eye, and tissue donation awareness within their hospitals and communities. HAP partnered with the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the two organ procurement organizations serving Pennsylvania-the Center for Organ Recovery & Education and the Gift of Life Donor Program-to support the challenge.

"Organ donation is a critical need across the country," said Michael Stern, Tower Health president and CEO. "There are currently more than 100,000 individuals on the national transplant waiting list, almost 2,000 of them children. We know that each donor can save eight lives and enhance the lives of 75 more, so I'm proud of the exceptional work of so many Tower Health employees to raise awareness of this vital issue."

As part of the month-long Challenge in April, hospitals engaged in a wide variety of activities to shine a spotlight on the life-changing impact organ donation can have, from campaigns to register new organ donors to community health fairs, media events to social media posts, internal trainings and coordination meetings, and more.

This year, 121 hospitals statewide participated in the challenge.
