FADM military personnel pratice Tactical Combat Casualty Care skills

Katembe, Mozambique - In the context of the Train-the-Trainers Programme, elements of the Mozambican Defence Armed Forces (FADM) proceed with the consolidation of knowledge in Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC).

Simulating real scenarios of conflict, the Quick Reaction Forces (QRF) elements put their TCCC skills on test focusing and treating preventable causes of death in combat, like massive hemorrhage, airway obstruction and tension pneumothorax.

With the assistance of elements of the European Union Military Assistance Mission in Mozambique (EUMAM MOZ) Role 1 medical unit, it was emphasizing the phase of care under fire and tactical field care, inside the TCCC.

The commitment shown throughout the day allowed all participants to develop their response to scenarios of extreme stress and danger and have a general knowledge of how to react in a real-life situation. With the objective of strengthening the sustainability of Mozambique`s QRF, these activities and the regeneration cycle allow to be a step-closer to an autonomous operational cycle.

EUMAM MOZ is a non-executive European Union mission with a mandate until June 2026. The mission currently includes military personnel from 11 EU Member States.
