Annual City greenhouse surplus plant sale sells out on opening day

The Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services (PRCS) Department thanks the community after the annual City greenhouse surplus plant sale sold out on its first day because of overwhelming community support.

Because all available plants have sold, the remaining sale dates-Friday, July 24, and Saturday, July 25-have been canceled. Residents who were planning to attend on those dates are asked not to visit the greenhouse, as no plants remain available for purchase.

The annual sale featured thousands of greenhouse-grown native and water-wise plants cultivated by the City's greenhouse staff. Donations from the event support maintenance and future improvements to the greenhouse facility, helping support the greenhouse program that grows many of the flowers and plants used throughout Colorado Springs parks, trails, medians and public spaces.

"We are incredibly grateful for the enthusiastic support from our community," said City Horticulturist Alex Crochet. "This year's response exceeded our expectations and reflects how much residents value locally grown, climate-appropriate plants. Every donation made through the sale helps us continue growing beautiful, resilient landscapes that benefit the entire community."

PRCS thanks everyone who attended and supported this year's sale and looks forward to welcoming residents back for future greenhouse events.
