City Joins Cities United for 'Walk It Out to End Community Violence'

The Greensboro Community Safety Department (CSD) joins Cities United and several local nonprofit organizations for 'Walk It Out to End Community Violence' event today at 4 pm. The walk, which starts at 417 Arlington St. and ends at 1900 Martin Luther King Jr., Dr., is open to all. Participants are encouraged to wear orange in recognition of National Gun Awareness Month and a commitment to violence prevention.

Participants will gather to walk in solidarity, honor lives lost to violence, and uplift community-driven solutions rooted in healing, prevention, and collective responsibility.

In addition to the CSD and Cities United, the following organizations are participating:

  • Gate City Coalition

  • GSO Peace Corp

  • Margaret Clinard Outreach Foundation

  • UniFour One

The CSD takes a holistic, collaborative approach to improving Greensboro's public safety through community-centered prevention initiatives, crisis intervention services to help de-escalate violence, and long-term, intensive case management for individuals whose issues-such as mental health, substance use, and homelessness- have put them in frequent contact with law enforcement.
