Twin Falls Park Boat Launch Will Close Wednesday During Dam Inspection

The boat ramp at Twin Falls Park will be closed Wednesday, Feb. 18, while engineers conduct a routine semi-annual inspection of the dam. The reservoir behind Twin Falls Dam will be lowered by up to 24 inches.

Water levels will begin dropping after the park closes at sunset Tuesday, and the boat launch will be closed all day Wednesday. The reservoir should be back to its current level by Thursday morning.

Twin Falls Park will remain open for public access, but visitors should be aware of the lower water levels.

The Twin Falls Power Plant is one of 17 hydroelectric projects Idaho Power operates on the Snake River and its tributaries. Idaho Power built the original plant in 1935 and updated it in 1995 with a diversion structure and two powerhouses with a total nameplate generating capacity of 52,898 kilowatts. The adjacent park, located two miles upstream of Shoshone Falls Park, off Falls Avenue, is a day-use, 10-acre park with a reservable picnic shelter. The park is open daily from 8 a.m. to dark.
