‘U.S. News & World Report’ Recognizes Four Shriners Children's Locations for Excellence in Pediatric Orthopedics

Shriners Children's has once again been featured on U.S. News & World Report's prestigious list of the nation's top children's hospitals, with four locations from the international nonprofit healthcare system earning a spot in this year's pediatric orthopedics rankings.

The publication's "2026-2027 Best Children's Hospitals" list ranks the top 50 hospitals nationwide across 10 pediatric specialties. U.S. News & World Report - the leading authority in healthcare quality assessments - has published the rankings for more than a decade, giving families facing diagnoses a starting point for finding specialized care.

The following Shriners Children's locations were ranked in pediatric orthopedics:

  • No. 11 - Shriners Children's Salt Lake City, together with Intermountain Primary Children's Hospital - University of Utah
  • No. 17 - Shriners Children's St. Louis, together with Washington University and St. Louis Children's Hospital
  • No. 36 - Shriners Children's Northern California, together with University of California Davis Children's Hospital
  • No. 37 - Shriners Children's Lexington, in partnership with Kentucky Children's Hospital

Hospitals were ranked in pediatric orthopedics for treatment of conditions such as scoliosis and spina bifida, as well as injuries like complex fractures and sports injuries. Scores are largely based on success with difficult fracture cases, surgical complications and infection prevention.

In determining the rankings, U.S. News & World Report collects detailed clinical data through hospital surveys examining factors such as patient safety, infection control and nurse staffing levels. Part of each hospital's score also comes from a reputational survey of thousands of pediatric specialists, who are asked to name the hospitals they would trust most with their sickest patients.

"This recognition reflects the work our teams do every day on behalf of children and families," said Chairman of the Board of Trustees Leslie D. Stewart, M.D. "We are proud to see four of our locations honored in these rankings. It is a tribute to the skill and compassion of our physicians, nurses, therapists and staff. Their dedication helps children overcome challenges and reach their full potential."

This latest recognition from U.S. News & World Report reflects what continues to set Shriners Children's apart: an unwavering commitment to excellence, a focus on delivering the highest quality care and a drive for continual improvement on behalf of the patients and families we serve.

"Pediatric orthopedics has been at the heart of Shriners Children's mission for more than a century, and we remain focused on advancing the care we provide," said Chief Medical Officer Scott H. Kozin, M.D. "Having four locations recognized in the U.S. News & World Report rankings reflects the expertise of our teams and the strength of our orthopedic programs. We're proud of this achievement and grateful to everyone whose hard work makes it possible."
