ATLANTA - State Representative Carl Gilliard (D-Savannah), along with the Chatham County Gang Prevention and Intervention Commission, will hold a "Breaking the Silos" statewide conference on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Southwest Chatham Library Auditorium in Savannah, Ga.
Rep. Gilliard notes that programming will include resources, presenters and strategies aimed at reducing incarceration and recidivism among young people, including discussions on gang prevention and intervention and ways to strengthen collaboration across organizations, agencies and school systems.
The Chatham County Gang Prevention and Intervention Commission was established through House Bill 750, legislation sponsored by Rep. Gilliard during the 2021 legislative session. The legislation was passed following a House study committee appointed by late Speaker David Ralston and chaired by Rep. Gilliard.
The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Rep. Gilliard encourages those interested in attending to register by calling the conference registration line at 912-436-5325.
