Reflecting its commitment to humanitarian and community causes, the Delegation of the European Union to the State of Qatar, in collaboration with a number of EU Member States' embassies, organised a community outreach visit on 28 April 2026 to the Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities as part of activities marking Autism Spectrum Disorder Awareness Month.
The visit was led by H.E. Ambassador Cristian Tudor, representing the EU Delegation, who highlighted the European Union's commitment to supporting inclusion initiatives and raising awareness about the importance of embracing diversity and respecting differences within societies. "This visit reflects our shared commitment to inclusion, understanding, and respect. Marking Autism Awareness Month together is a meaningful reminder that every individual deserves to be seen, valued, and supported," he said. The delegation was received by Mrs. Fatima Al Saadi, Executive Director of the Shafallah Center, who welcomed the initiative and commended its role in supporting the Center's members.
The programme included interactive activities, notably a book reading session by author Ghada Kofa, Press and Information Officer at the EU Delegation, who presented "The Secret of the Buried Treasure", focusing on the values of perseverance, dedication, and hard work in achieving success. The session was met with strong engagement from the Center's members and contributed to creating a positive and encouraging atmosphere.
The EU Delegation also distributed educational gift bags designed to support creativity and collaborative play, adding to the sense of joy and interaction among participants.
Mrs. Fatima Saeed Al Saadi, Executive Director of the Shafallah Center, expressed her appreciation for the visit, noting that such initiatives contribute to raising community awareness on disability issues and promoting a culture of inclusion and solidarity.
This visit reaffirms the commitment of the European Union and its Member States to supporting impactful community initiatives and building sustainable partnerships that contribute to empowering persons with disabilities.
