Bus Service 111 improvements

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council has agreed improvements to the bus service 111, operated by Edwards Coaches.

The improvements include a later return journey between Ty Rhiw and Pontypridd, and additional morning/afternoon journeys between Rhydyfelin and Hawthorn and Church Village, Llantwit Fardre, and Tonteg, from Monday 1st September 2025.

The later journey at 16:05 from Ty Rhiw, returning from Pontypridd Bus Station at 16:50, offers greater access for the residents of Ty Rhiw to local shops and amenities, as well as opportunities for interchange with the wider public transport network.

The additional morning and afternoon return journey between Rhydyfelin and Hawthorn and Church Village, Llantwit Fardre, and Tonteg will provide improved local transport links at key times.

A decision on what fares will be applicable for the school journeys will be determined by the Welsh Government's pilot bus fare cap scheme for young people across Wales.
