Community Academy Graduation

Congratulations to the 13 graduates of ASO's Fall Community Academy! During September and October, participants explored jail operations, courthouse security, field operations, administration, recruiting and hiring. Through tours and interactive demonstrations, participants gained a behind-the-scenes look at the Sheriff's Office.

The next Community Academy is scheduled for spring 2027. Stay tuned for details.

Community Connections in October

ASO connected with residents throughout October at Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations, car seat safety checks and Halloween events. Activities included bilingual reading days at Patrick Henry K-8 and William Ramsay Elementary schools, City Council's Hispanic Heritage Month celebration and Primera Iglesia's 48th anniversary celebration.

For Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Sheriff Casey and ASO deputies joined public safety partners at the Silent Witness Candlelight Vigil to honor victims of domestic violence.

ASO Service Spotlight: Deputies Can, Morgante, and Scalsky

This month's Service Spotlight recognizes Field Operations Deputies Can, Morgante and Scalsky for their quick thinking and teamwork during a suspected opioid overdose emergency.

Responding to the 300 block of South Patrick Street, deputies assisted two individuals experiencing medical emergencies. When one individual became combative, deputies safely secured the person so medical personnel could provide treatment. Recognizing signs of a possible overdose, Deputies Scalsky and Can administered two doses of naloxone (Narcan) while supporting emergency responders.

ASO commends all three deputies for their decisive actions, professionalism and commitment to protecting lives.

Men of Courage Award

On October 17, Sheriff Sean Casey received the 2026 Men of Courage Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his service to the community. The awards honor resilience, leadership and a commitment to making a difference. Sheriff Casey was honored to be recognized alongside fellow recipients. Thank you to Anthony "Tony" Suggs Sr. of Dream Works TDS for hosting the event!

Helping Eligible Inmates Register to Vote

ASO partnered with the National Civic League's Spread the Vote program to help eligible inmates register to vote and learn about mail-in voting. Volunteers visited the William G. Truesdale Adult Detention Center to assist with registration and answer questions. Twenty-five inmates participated.

The program reflects ASO's commitment to providing inmates with resources and opportunities, a priority for Sheriff Casey and ASO staff.
