In Part 2 of preparing for our Optimal Eco Asset Program, let's focus on creating a digital Ag strategy. A digital Ag strategy uses software, hardware, and the cloud/internet to digitally document as many layers of your operation. This allows your information to be easily shared and opens the door to new market opportunities with much less effort. It also offers valuable insights into the decisions you made this year, allowing you to make better choices for next year.
The first step is to prepare your operation for digital documentation. If you operate all, or mostly all Deere equipment, then I highly encourage you to use John Deere's Operations Center. This serves as a central, secure place to monitor, organize, analyze, and share your farm data. The Operations Center works extremely well and is of no additional cost to use.
You can use this tool to map all the boundaries of your fields and input all your products to create setup files that can be shared with your equipment. This process streamlines documentation once you are in the field, ensuring that each application is precisely recorded, season after season. John Deere also has very affordable data plans that upload equipment data to the Operations Center automatically, a feature farmers have grown to appreciate.

If you don't run John Deere equipment, or if you have a mixed fleet, Fieldview from Climate is a great digital tool. FieldView is quite similar to Operations Center, but it primarily allows users to input and document information using an iPad in the cab. One of the advantages of FieldView is its user-friendly interface, which can replace outdated OEM monitors and systems for digitally documenting data related to planting, spraying, and harvesting. This feature is compatible with most equipment from 2010 and newer. Even if your equipment is older, there are still options available for digital documentation.
Fieldview also offers in-season NDVI satellite imagery for crop health, which can effectively highlight areas of your field that are thriving and those that are not. While their services are not free, you can access their features for $250 per year, along with a one-time purchase of the Fieldview Drive 2.0 for $550 and an iPad. This combination provides you with all the tools I've mentioned. To learn more about Fieldview, please visit

Both options enable you to collaborate with your MKC team, ensuring we receive the information you want to share. By doing so, we can utilize your data to upload it to our Eco Asset partners on your behalf, significantly reducing the time and effort typically required. Additionally, this allows us to send VRT prescriptions and seeding scripts directly to your equipment, streamlining the process for you.
Another advantage of working with MKC is our ability to source all the applications, nutrients, seed, products, and soil data we provide to you. This simplifies your participation in our Optimal Eco Asset Program by reducing the information you need to supply.
One of our customers, who has a well-established digital ag strategy and partners with MKC for their agricultural needs, shared, "I have received a very nice payment for what feels like not much work on my part."
