MoDOT TRAFFIC ALERT: Eastbound I-44 Ramps CLOSED at Night in Springfield April 8- May 4

Where : Eastbound I-44 Ramps CLOSED at Night in Springfield, where crews are working

• Kansas Expressway on-ramp to eastbound I-44 (Exit 77)
• Glenstone Avenue on and off-ramps at eastbound I-44 (Exit 80)
• Eastbound I-44 to southbound U.S. Route 65 ramp (Exit 82A)

When: 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly, beginning Wednesday, April 8, until Monday, May 4

What: Contractor crews will be striping lanes, moving barricades, and removing the old pavement of eastbound I-44. Ramps are closed for safety reasons, and only where crews are working. This work is part of the Forward 44: Interstate 44 Corridor Upgrades in Greene County project.

Traffic Impacts:

• Eastbound I-44 Ramps CLOSED at Night in Springfield, where crews are working
• • Kansas Expressway on-ramp to eastbound I-44 (Exit 77)
  • Glenstone Avenue on and off-ramps at eastbound I-44 (Exit 80)
  • Eastbound I-44 to southbound U.S. Route 65 ramp (Exit 82A)
• Eastbound I-44 left-lane traffic shifted to the south side of westbound I-44 between U.S. Route 65 and Kansas Expressway
• Westbound I-44 and the left lane of eastbound I-44 will be in a head-to-head configuration with a median separating the two directions of traffic
• Eastbound I-44 is Open in two 12-foot lanes
• Westbound I-44 is Open to two 11-foot lanes
• Glenstone Avenue on-ramp to westbound I-44 (Exit 80) is CLOSED for an extended length of time for safety reasons
• No signed detours; drivers are urged to find alternate routes
• Signs and message boards will alert drivers to work zones and inform the public when there are reduced speeds and traffic delays
• Check MoDOT's Traveler Information Map for road closures/traffic impacts

Weather and/or construction delays will alter the work schedule .

Project Summary:

• Widening I-44 to 6 lanes between Missouri Route 13 (Kansas Expressway) and U.S. Route 65
• Replace the following bridges carrying I-44 over city streets:
• • Broadway Avenue Bridge
  • Grant Avenue Bridge
  • National Avenue Bridge
• Build a pedestrian underpass and trail improvements east of Grant Avenue
• Resurface I-44 between west of Missouri Route 266 (Chestnut Expressway) and U.S. Route 160 (West Bypass)
• Build a sound wall south of I-44 from the National Avenue bridge west, approximately 2,550 feet

Contractor: Capital Paving & Construction LLC, Jefferson City

The awarded construction cost is $70.7 million, including $13.4 million in General Revenue funds provided by the General Assembly and the Governor's Office.
