20.3.2026

Question for written answer E-001175/2026
to the Commission
Rule 144
Loucas Fourlas (PPE)

Hostilities in Iran have already disrupted international energy markets, which has had a direct impact on fuel prices. European citizens and businesses are potentially facing a further tightening of the screw when it comes to energy in what is an already difficult economic context.

In view of the above, can the Commission answer the following:

  • 1.How does it assess the impact of the conflict in Iran on fuel prices within the EU?
  • 2.What measures does it intend to take to protect consumers from further increases?
  • 3.Is there a plan for a coordinated energy intervention in the event of a protracted crisis?
