Tribute to Ndéye Dagué Gueye

It is with deep sadness that we have learnt of the passing of Ndéye Dagué Gueye on 16 May, a dedicated member of the HI's Federal Board of Trustees since 2017.

Through her career, her humanity and her unwavering commitment, Ndéye Dagué Gueye left a lasting mark on our organisation and on everyone who had the privilege of working alongside her. Her voice, always guided by the values of solidarity, dignity and social justice, helped to advance HI's missions with conviction and kindness.

An active and respected member of the Federal Board of Trustees, she brought enlightened vision, attentive listening and invaluable energy to key moments in our organisation's life. Her commitment to vulnerable people and her dedication to human values will remain a source of inspiration for us all.

A life dedicated to inclusion and dignity

Dagué was a leading figure in social activism and the defence of human rights in Senegal, particularly in the fight to promote the rights of people with disabilities in Senegal. Notably, she was the first woman with a disability to lead the women's section of the Senegalese Federation of Associations of People with Disabilities.

At this time of grief, our deepest sympathies go out to her family, her loved ones and all those who shared her journey.

May her commitment and legacy continue to guide our actions.
