The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Edmondo Cirielli, completed a visit to Brazzaville yesterday, accompanied by the Minister of Health, Professor Orazio Schillaci. The visit aimed to strengthen relations with the Republic of Congo in the political, economic, and cooperation fields, in line with the Mattei Plan, with a particular focus on the health and agriculture sectors.

The Italian delegation was received by the President of the Republic, Denis Sassou Nguesso, and the Prime Minister, Anatole Makosso, and was accompanied throughout the visit by the Minister of Cooperation and the Promotion of Public-Private Partnerships, Denis Christel Sassou Nguesso, and the Minister of Health, Jean-Rosaire Ibara.

Deputy Minister Cirielli and Minister of Health Schillaci visited two local hospitals involved in the Support Program for the Republic of Congo for the Development of Integrated Healthcare Services, an initiative supported by approximately €45 million from the Italian Cooperation and implemented by an Italian company in partnership with the Congolese government. This project reaffirms the importance of our healthcare cooperation within the broader context of strategic relations with Africa, consistently pursued by the government in every area.

Representatives of the Central Italy-Africa Chamber of Commerce and ICAM - Italian Chocolate, interested in developing new synergies in the sustainable cocoa supply chain in Congo, were also present at the various meetings.
