The City of North Port Parks & Recreation announces an updated start time for the upcoming Circle of Honor Dedication Ceremony scheduled for Friday, May 22.
To avoid a scheduling conflict with another community event, the ceremony will now begin at 11 a.m. at the Circle of Honor, adjacent to the George Mullen Activity Center Playground, 4970 City Hall Blvd.
The Circle of Honor was created to provide a dedicated space for remembrance, reflection and community ceremonies honoring veterans, active-duty military members and future generations of service members.
The dedication ceremony will include the presentation of colors, the national anthem, recognition of advisory committee members, remarks from special guest speaker Christopher Barnes, a veteran and Florida native who currently serves as a senior advisor to the Secretary and Deputy Secretary at the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, followed by remarks from City leadership and the raising of military branch flags.
Community members are encouraged to attend this free public event.
