Seneca County resident shares appreciation of ODOT

The roundabout at U.S. 224 and State Route 587, southeast of the city of Fostoria, was constructed in 2022

The intersection of U.S. 224 and State Route 587 southeast of the city of Fostoria made local resident Paula Cosiano wary. "For the most part, people didn't stop when they needed to stop. It was always a concerning intersection," she said.

Low-cost enhancements did not improve the crash rate at the intersection, which averaged nearly four crashes a year. Then in 2022, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) constructed a roundabout. The result: No crashes have occurred since the roundabout has been in operation.

Paula was so impressed with the project, she reached out, unsolicited, to ODOT with her expression of gratitude. "I wanted people to know - thank you for recognizing that this needed done and putting this improvement in place."

Here, Paula shares her thoughts on the roundabout since its completion.
