WASHINGTON, D.C. - Feb. 25, 2026 - Today, Congressman Nick Begich (R-AK) released the following statement following the President's State of the Union Address:

"During his State of the Union address, President Trump celebrated 250 years of American strength and independence and made clear that America has made a remarkable resurgence. Thanks to America First leadership, inflation is easing, energy production is rising, our border is secure, and our military is respected around the world.

Alaska is central to this resurgence. From unshackling the North Slope to expanded opportunity for responsible minerals development, from our strategic military installations to our hardworking small businesses, our state is helping power America's turnaround.

The preservation of peace requires a commitment to strength. Historic investments in our military reinforce Alaska's vital role in national defense and Arctic security. Our service members represent the finest fighting force in the world, and they have a Commander-in-Chief who stands firmly behind them.

While we have achieved these results at record speed, there is more work to do for the families who sent us here. America First policies are working, and we will continue fighting to lower costs, unleash Alaska's full resource potential, secure our nation, and expand opportunity across our great state.
