On September 26, an official reception was held at the Okura Hotel Tokyo on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Armenia.
The event was attended by Mr. Matsumoto Hisashi, Parliamentary Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Mr. Yamauchi Tadashi, Chairman of the Town Council of Minamaizu, Fukushima Prefecture, Japanese government officials, members of parliament, businessmen, scientific and cultural figures, representatives of the Armenian community.
In her speech, Ambassador Monica Simonyan touched upon the achievements recorded in bilateral relations during 2025, Armenia's representation at the World Expo in Osaka and the visit of the Armenian Prime Minister's delegation held in early September on the occasion of the National Day, the work of the TUMO Center opened in Gunma Prefecture, and activities aimed at developing bilateral business ties.
Parliamentary Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Matsumoto Hisashi referred to the Armenian-Japanese friendly relations and their development prospects, emphasizing the continuous stregthening of cooperation.
The Chairman of the Minamiaizu Town Council Mr. Yamauchi Tadashi highlighted the close cooperation established with Armenia in the fields of sport and culture and expressed hope that the existing ties will deepen further in the future.
At the event, students from the Tokyo College of Music performed Armenian and Japanese folk pieces.
