ADVISORY - LANCASTER COUNTY - DEP, PFBC to Stock Conowingo Creek, Highlight Stream Restoration Projects

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Secretary Jessica Shirley and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission along with local volunteers will stock trout in the Conowingo Creek in Southern Lancaster County, and highlight a local streambank restoration project. Such projects are made possible with the through the use of Section 319 Nonpoint Source Pollution Management Grants.

A brief press conference at the Black Bear Road Bridge will highlight the success of a Nonpoint Source Management Grant project at the nearby Esh Farm. That restoration project improves water quality by reducing sediment to the creek by 176 tons per year, Nitrogen by 1,260 tons per year, and Phosphorus by 386 pounds per year. The Black Bear Road location will be the first of several that the volunteers will visit along the planned fish stocking route.
