The Menifee City Council has appointed Ben Diederich as the new District 2 City Councilmember. The selection was made during the regular meeting of the City Council held on Wednesday, January 15 at 6 p.m. Candidates for the position were interviewed by the City Council at a special meeting on the same day at 4 p.m.
Diederich is a long-time Menifee resident and has served as a planning commissioner for the City of Menifee for the past six years. He is involved in numerous community organizations including the Menifee Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Menifee. Diederich also served on the Board of Directors for Santa Rosa Academy.
"I am honored that the City Council has appointed me as the District 2 City Councilmember and look forward to serving my community and ensuring the safety and happiness of our residents," said Diederich. "With my experience as a planning commissioner, I hope to help our city attract additional amenities, entertainment options, and high-quality jobs that will allow residents to live, work, and play right here in Menifee."
Diederich's appointment fills the vacancy in District 2 following the November 2024 election. The seat was previously held by Ricky Estrada, who was sworn in as Mayor on December 17, 2024.
Diederich will be sworn in at the next regular meeting of the City Council on Wednesday, February 5 at 6 p.m. His term for the District 2 council seat will run through the certification of the November 4, 2026 election.
