Berry presents on combating generative AI use through lower stake assessments

Lisa Berry, associate director of eCampus Instructional Design Services, gave a presentation on "Transforming Assessment from Product to Process in the Age of Generative AI" at the 2026 OLC Elevate conference in August 2026. Co-hosted by Tarleton State University and Rockford University, this two-day virtual experience tackled the most pressing shifts in digital learning.

Berry's presentation addressed how breaking assessments down into smaller component parts helps deter students from using AI to produce the final product. Smaller assessments can take some of the pressure associated with a high-stakes assessment off students, and it gives them the opportunity to demonstrate their learning process.
