Overnight Painting Work to Slow WB Commodore Barry Bridge Traffic

Drivers should expect periodic overnight slowdowns on the Commodore Barry Bridge due to preparation for painting work. The work will occur Tuesday night through Saturday morning from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. This will affect both eastbound & westbound traffic.

During these hours, motorists may experience delays of up to 15 minutes. Travelers are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra time when heading westbound overnight.

The painting work is related to the $220 million rehabilitation project for the bridge that is focused on preserving and enhancing this critical transportation link between Chester, PA and Bridgeport, NJ. This large-scale endeavor, slated for completion in early 2028, aims to prevent deterioration and ensure long-term safety and reliability of the bridge's steel components.
