California Legislative Central Coast Caucus Issues Statement on President Trump's Dangerous Remarks Against Los Angeles and San Diego

SAN LUIS OBISPO - Assemblymember Dawn Addis (D-Morro Bay) and Assemblymember Gregg Hart (D-Santa Barbara), the co-chairs of the California Legislative Central Coast Caucus, issued the following statement regarding the comments made by President Trump regarding Los Angeles and San Diego:

"The California Legislative Central Coast Caucus condemns the dangerous and unhinged remarks made by President Trump regarding our beloved neighbors in Los Angeles and San Diego. We ask President Trump to retract his remarks, and we urge leaders across our nation to make clear that every person's life in America has value. The Central Coast is unified with Los Angeles and San Diego, and all who know that, as Commander in Chief of the United States of America, the President's highest duty is to protect our nation."

In Grand Island, Nebraska, on October 5th, President Donald Trump referred to a hypothetical Iranian retaliation against American cities such as San Diego and Los Angeles as "a small price to pay." California is home to nearly 40 million Americans and has the fourth-largest economy in the world. San Diego and Los Angeles alone have a combined population of five million Americans.

The California Legislative Central Caucus is made up of eleven elected officials representing Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties. The caucus is led by Assemblymembers Dawn Addis and Gregg Hart as co-chairs and Senator John Laird as the vice chair.
