City of Pompano Beach Invites Residents to Shape the Future of Public Safety

The City of Pompano Beach is inviting residents to share their voices on the future of local public safety. Currently, law enforcement services in the City are provided by the Broward Sheriff's Office. While patrol cars bear the Pompano Beach name, officers serve under the Sheriff's Office rather than a city-run police department.

City leaders are now exploring whether to establish a stand-alone Pompano Beach Police Department, managed and staffed directly by the City. This is a major decision, and the City is committed to ensuring that residents play an active role in shaping the future of policing and safety in their neighborhoods.

The City is hosting a series of in-person and virtual community meetings designed to:

  • Provide an overview of how public safety services are delivered today
  • Present the options under consideration for future law enforcement services
  • Offer opportunities for residents to ask questions directly to public safety experts
  • Gather community feedback, priorities, and concerns

Together, we can build a public safety system that reflects the values and needs of our community.

Meeting Schedule:
