Tempe, AZ - Opioid misuse is a serious public health threat that impacts people from all walks of life. You can help Tempe fight this epidemic by taking a short survey to share your priorities, needs and ideas.
Tempe has been addressing this issue since 2016 and became the first city in the nation to use wastewater data to inform opioid services. That commitment continues with Tempe's Opioid Response Plan.
The city wants to hear from residents about:
The new data will directly shape Tempe's response to opioid misuse. Take the survey through April 13.
Tempe's Opioid Response Plan, created in 2024, provides a blueprint for how the city is currently meeting needs and ways to strengthen this work.
Opioid strategy areas. Tempe is tackling the crisis through prevention, recovery and resiliency, enforcement and building capacity.
Existing programs and activities. Efforts include prevention programs in schools, community drug take-backs, connecting people saved from an overdose to supportive services and targeted drug enforcement.
Opportunities for new programming. Tempe is expanding its efforts thanks to funding from national opioid settlements. The city's share is projected to be $9.2 million over 18 years. Plans underway include expanded life skills and prevention programming for Tempe students and specialists focused on community health and peer support services.
