Board of County Commissioners' Schedule for February 23 - 27, 2026

MONDAY, February 23
9:00 a.m. - Executive Session
Pursuant to Colorado Revised Statute § 24-6-402 (4), upon the affirmative vote
of two-thirds of the quorum present, the La Plata County Board of County Commissioners will hold an executive session to discuss the following matters:
Personnel matters pursuant to Colo. Rev. Stat. § 24-6-402(4)(f). Purpose: Establishment of performance goals for new County Manager.

10:30 a.m. - Annual Tour of La Plata County Jail
As required by Colorado Revised Statutes, the Board will take their annual tour of the La Plata County Jail at 742 Turner Drive.

TUESDAY, February 24
8:30 a.m. - Executive Session
Pursuant to Colorado Revised Statute § 24-6-402 (4), upon the affirmative vote
of two-thirds of the quorum present, the La Plata County Board of County Commissioners will hold an executive session to discuss the following matters:

1. The purchase, acquisition, lease, transfer, or sale of real, personal or other property pursuant to Colo. Rev. Stat. § 24-6-402(4)(a).
   Purpose: Disposition of the Old Main Post Office and Schluter lots and lands related to the Bayfield Landfill.

10:00 a.m. - Business Agenda Meeting
The Board will consider:

1. Tribute to Jim and Terry Fitzgerald.
2. Consideration of Resolution 2026-05 adopting the 2026 Road Maintenance Map.
3. Consideration of Resolution 2026-06 suspending annual consideration of change of road maintenance.
4. Approval of County Cash Requirements February 6, 2026 through February 13, 2026.
5. Approval of a grant application to Colorado Parks and Wildlife for impact assistance for lands owned by Colorado Parks and Wildlife for tax year 2025.
6. Approval of the renewal of a hotel and restaurant liquor license for Hermosa Creek Grill.
7. Approval of the renewal of a hotel and restaurant liquor license for Bar D Chuckwagon Suppers.
8. Approval of the renewal of a tavern liquor license for Lost Goat Tavern, LLC.
9. Approval of an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Town of Bayfield and Town of Bayfield Police Department for Routine Patrol of Certain County Roads.
10. Approval of a letter to the Forest Lakes Metro District regarding Unit 3 - Fire Risk, Service Plan Obligations, and County Enforcement Authority.
11. Ratification of a letter of support to the United States Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources supporting the reauthorization of the Cheney Disposal Cell.

1:00 p.m. - Meeting with Friends of Durango Seniors
The Commissioners will meet with Gay Kiene, a board member with Friends of Durango Seniors, to discuss supporting and enhancing services for older adults in La Plata County. The meeting will be held at the La Plata County Senior Center, located at 2424 Main Avenue in Durango.

WEDNESDAY, February 25
8:30 a.m. - Board Discussion Time
The Commissioners will meet with staff in the Board Room to discuss various issues.

THURSDAY, February 26

CCAT will host a virtual meeting to discuss CCAT's position on HB-1001 HOME Act.

11:00 a.m. - Counties & Commissioners Acting Together (CCAT) Pine Beetle Presentation
The Board will attend the virtual presentation to hear the latest updates on beetle activity, current impacts and ongoing mitigation and recovery efforts.

11:30 a.m. - Counties & Commissioners Acting Together (CCAT) Policy Meeting Natural Resources/Wildfire and General Government/Governance Committees
The Board will attend the virtual Natural Resources/Wildfire and General Government/Governance Committee Policy Meetings.

4:00 p.m. - Elizabeth Philbrick to host Commissioner Chat at the Pine River Library
Commissioner Elizabeth Philbrick will host Commissioner Chat from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Pine River Library, located at 395 Bayfield Center Drive. Residents are encouraged to stop by for an informal chat about county issues or concerns.

FRIDAY, February 27
12:00 p.m. - Colorado Counties, Inc. (CCI) Steering Committee Meeting
The Board will attend the virtual CCI Steering Committee Legislative Briefing.

3:00 p.m. - Commissioner Marsha Porter-Norton call-in Office Hours
Commissioner Marsha Porter-Norton will host call-in Office Hours from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. County residents are encouraged to call 970-382-6215 during these hours to discuss county issues and concerns.
