Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be available to those returning home Tuesday following new evacuation downgrades related to the Old Trails Fire. While fire risk is reduced, allowing for downgrades, serious concerns over hazmat exposure remain.

Individuals and families living in Tier I areas (see attached map) should be prepared to stop and pick up PPE kits.

The American Red Cross will distribute these kits at three staging sites:

  • The corner of Windriver Dr., just off Nine Mile Rd
  • The entrance of Woodside, just off Nine Mile Rd
  • Shoulder of Rifle Club Road, just off Aubrey L White Pkwy

PPE distribution will be available at these sites on Tuesday, August 11 from 2 to 6 p.m.

The Spokane Regional Health District is advising residents whose homes are still standing to look for smoke, ash, and damaged utilities. Visit SRHD s "After a Wildfire" website to find guidance on what to look for in terms of any potential hazards in your home. Additional guidance on safely returning home can be found on our website.
