Summer fun is on its way! The Ron Wood Splash Pad opens Friday, May 22, and thanks to its smart, efficient design, it's a drought-friendly way to beat the heat.
The Ron Wood Splash Pad is designed to use significantly less water than traditional systems. Instead of constantly sending new water down the drain, it works just like a pool: the water is cleaned, filtered, and recycled all season long. That means families can cool off in our hot, dry climate without unnecessary waste.
Here's how the system stays water-smart:
Recycles Water
A 10,000-gallon underground tank collects, cleans, and recirculates the water over and over. Out of those 10,000 gallons, only a few hundred are lost to wind and evaporation, far less than open-flow splash pads.
Push-Button Play
Visitors turn on the water using buttons on the blue pillars. The water runs for 30 minutes at a time and shuts off automatically, preventing constant flow when no one is playing. Want to keep the fun going? Just tap the pillar again.
Wind Sensor Savings
When winds get too strong, the splash pad automatically shuts off the water to prevent waste. As soon as the wind dies down, the splash pad can be turned back on again.
To help us keep the recycled water clean, please keep dogs, bikes, scooters, and skateboards off the splash pad. And just like a pool, please don't drink the water.
Opening Day
The Ron Wood Splash Pad opens Friday, May 22 and will be open Memorial Day through Labor Day, Monday-Sunday, 10 AM-8 PM at Ron Wood Park, 5900 W. New Bingham Hwy.
Cool down, have fun and stay water-wise with us this summer!
