Recognition celebrates MacKay's contributions to Southwest Washington, community partnerships and continued growth.
MacKay was named the recipient of the 2026 Large Business Award at the Greater Vancouver Chamber's Business & Leadership Awards ceremony on October 14 at The Heathman Lodge in Vancouver, WA.
The annual awards recognize outstanding businesses and community leaders whose contributions strengthen the regional economy, create opportunities and support the long-term success of Southwest Washington.
MacKay was recognized for its role in helping shape the community through planning, design and infrastructure projects, including Vancouver's Main Street Promise, public infrastructure and parks. The Chamber also highlighted the firm's partnerships with local governments, businesses and community organizations, along with its commitment to developing future professionals through educational partnerships with Washington State University Vancouver.
For MacKay, the award carries special significance.

CEO Derrick Smith accepted the award on behalf of the company, reflecting on the connection between MacKay's work and the community where it began.
"Vancouver is our home. We were founded here as MacKay Sposito, and we've had the privilege of playing a role in the growth and development of this community for decades. At MacKay, we help design the infrastructure solutions that allow communities to grow and thrive. To be recognized by a community we've helped shape, and one that has helped shape us, is especially rewarding. We're proud of where we started and honored to continue calling Vancouver home," said Derrick Smith, CEO of MacKay.
Today, MacKay is growing into a national organization, bringing together talented professionals, expanding its disciplines and serving an increasingly diverse range of markets and communities.
While the award recognizes the company's contributions in Southwest Washington, it also reflects the collective efforts of employees across MacKay's growing organization.
During his acceptance remarks, Derrick emphasized the important role MacKay's employees have played in the company's success.
The award represents another meaningful milestone in MacKay's continued growth and reflects the company's longstanding commitment to building relationships, serving clients and helping communities thrive.
