DeKalb County House Legislative Delegation to Hold Meetings with DeKalb Board of Education and Decide Dekalb at State Capitol

ATLANTA - DeKalb County House Legislative Delegation Chair Karla Drenner (D-Avondale Estates), Vice Chair Viola Davis (D-Stone Mountain), Secretary Long Tran (D-Dunwoody), along with members of the DeKalb County House Legislative Delegation, will meet with the DeKalb County Board of Education on Monday, March 2, 2026, from 12 - 2 p.m. in room 514 of the Coverdell Legislative Office Building and via Zoom. Additionally, these legislators will meet with Decide DeKalb, the county's economic development authority, on Monday, March 9, 2026, from 12 - 2 p.m. in room 514 of the Coverdell Legislative Office Building in Atlanta.

"These meetings reflect our responsibility to remain closely engaged with the institutions that directly impact the daily lives of DeKalb residents," said Rep. Drenner. "Education, economic development and intergovernmental collaboration are not isolated issues-they are interconnected pillars of community stability. By working together, we strengthen our ability to advocate effectively for DeKalb County at the State Capitol."

"Strong municipalities and strong schools are foundational to economic stability and quality of life in DeKalb County," said Rep. Davis. "These meetings ensure that we are aligned with local leadership as we advocate for our communities at the State Capitol."

During the first delegation meeting, Board of Education officials will address school funding, safety initiatives, transportation needs, workforce readiness and state investments in public education and funding needs. During the second delegation meeting, Decide Dekalb representatives will discuss economic development strategy, business recruitment and retention, workforce pipeline coordination and opportunities to strengthen public-private partnerships throughout DeKalb County.
