Grassley Statement on Indianola Army Reserve Casualty

WASHINGTON - Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) issued a statement following the Department of Defense's casualty notice announcing Maj. Jeffrey R. O'Brien's death amid Operation Epic Fury. O'Brien was an Army Reserve soldier from Indianola assigned to Des Moines' 103rd Sustainment Command.

"It's devastating to learn a second Iowan has lost his life in combat. Maj. O'Brien's heroism will be remembered forever, along with his fellow fallen soldier and Iowan, Sgt. Declan Coady.

"With heavy hearts, Barbara and I are offering our prayers for Iowa's grieving Gold Star Families. May God protect all our troops abroad."
