EU-Canada: 9th Security and Defence Dialogue in Brussels

On 21 May, the EU and Canada held the 9th Security and Defence Dialogue in Brussels.

It was an opportunity to take stock of the implementation of the Security and Defence Partnership (SDP) in areas of shared priorities, including defence initiatives, countering hybrid threats, contributions to CSDP missions and operations, as well as security in the space and maritime domains.

Our partnership is growing in strength, bolstered by our like-minded approach to addressing key threats and challenges, including in the Arctic and Indo-Pacific.

The EU and Canada reiterated their support to Ukraine and commitment to strengthen our collaboration across-the-board.

The Dialogue was chaired on the EU side by EEAS Deputy Managing Director for Security and Defence Policy Maciej Stadejek and on Canada's by Assistant Deputy Minister for Policy, Scott Millar, Department of National Defence, and Martin Larose, Deputy Political Director and Director General for International Security and Strategic Affairs, Global Affairs Canada.
