Washington, DC - Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke (NY-09) issued the following statement regarding her appointment as Ranking Member of the House Energy and Commerce Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee in the 119th Congress:
"I am honored to usher in the 119th Congress as Ranking Member of the House Energy and Commerce Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee. Under my leadership, I intend for our committee to never fail to hold every agency, department, and program under our jurisdiction accountable to the will of the American people. We will always rise to ensure all initiatives under our subcommittee's purview comply with the legal, ethical, and moral standards we expect and demand of those in the public sector," said Congresswoman Clarke.
"Throughout my many years of service on the Energy and Commerce Committee, I have consistently centered the needs and priorities of our nation's underserved and overlooked communities. Alongside my colleagues, we pursued necessary policies to mitigate the impact of the climate crisis, bridge the digital divide by improving access to affordable broadband, promote equitable and diverse hiring practices in our government, and prepare our nation and its people for the dynamic and daunting future made possible by new artificial intelligence technologies. We have achieved so very much during my tenure on this committee, and I look forward to upholding this legacy of success as I assume this new role."
