MATSUI STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF CECILE RICHARDS

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-07) released the following statement after the passing of Cecile Richards, the former president of Planned Parenthood.

"Cecile Richards lived a vibrant life fighting to ensure that all Americans had the rights and protections that they deserve," said Congresswoman Matsui. "At every stage of her life, Cecile tirelessly fought with a unique blend of strength and empathy that gave voices to the voiceless. She looked in the eyes of women, workers, and the most underserved to let them know they were always seen and heard. She empowered them to channel their incredible strength into action. Her work to advance reproductive rights, women's rights, civil rights, and voting rights helped countless women and families across this country. Her legacy will inspire countless more.
