Millions in the AANHPI Community Are At Risk of Losing Lifesaving Healthcare Because of Donald Trump Arrow

Trump and Republicans have delivered a devastating blow to the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities by ripping away access to lifesaving healthcare from millions of families. From their Big Ugly Bill, to their refusal to extend ACA tax credits, to changes the Trump administration announced to ACA healthcare plans that could force people to pay more out of pocket, Republicans are creating a dire healthcare crisis within the AANHPI community, as families are already suffering to make ends meet because of Trump's agenda.

In response, DNC Vice Chair Shasti Conrad released the following statement:

"The AANHPI community is already being squeezed by rising costs from Trump's trade wars and war of choice in Iran, and now Trump and Republicans' cruel agenda is ripping away healthcare from seniors and kids. This November, Trump's healthcare betrayal will be top of mind for AANHPI voters - and Democrats stand ready to mobilize our communities to vote out Republicans who are enabling Trump's agenda."

Millions in the AANHPI community are suffering because of Trump and Republicans' cuts to Medicaid in the Big Ugly Bill and their refusal to extend ACA premium tax credits.

  • More than 4.5 million people in the AANHPI community rely on Medicaid, which Trump and Republicans cut by the largest amount in history.
  • One in four AANHPI children on the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) could lose health insurance because of the Big Ugly Bill.
  • 1 million people in the AANHPI community rely on the Affordable Care Act, and Trump and Republicans' attacks on the program threaten to reverse the progress the community has made in gaining healthcare coverage.
