Ayotte Nominates Daniel E. Will to Supreme Court

CONCORD, NH - Today, Governor Kelly Ayotte nominated Hon. Daniel E. Will of Loudon to the Supreme Court of New Hampshire. Judge Will currently serves as an Associate Justice of the State's Superior Court and was recommended for nomination following a review by the Governor's Judicial Selection Commission.

Governor Ayotte released the following statement on the nomination:

"Judge Will has served our state honorably as New Hampshire's first Solicitor General and now on our Superior Court. He has the qualifications, integrity, and commitment to public service Granite Staters expect in a Supreme Court Justice, and I am confident he will uphold the rule of law and our Constitution."

Following his nomination, Judge Will released the following statement:

"I am honored to be nominated to sit on our state's highest court, and I thank Governor Ayotte for the opportunity to continue serving New Hampshire. Granite Staters expect fair, impartial decisions from their Supreme Court. If confirmed, I will strive each day to meet that expectation, uphold the rule of law, and help resolve disputes fairly and expeditiously."

Former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, State Rep. Robert J. Lynn, added the following statement supporting Will's nomination:

"I have known Dan Will professionally for many years. He appeared before the New Hampshire Supreme Court on a regular basis when I served on that Court. About The Hon. Daniel E. Will:

The Honorable Daniel E. Will is an Associate Justice of the New Hampshire Superior Court. He was appointed to the bench in 2021. Prior to his appointment, Judge Will served as New Hampshire's first Solicitor General, representing the state in appellate and constitutional matters.

Before entering public service, he was a shareholder at Devine Millimet in Manchester, where he handled business and commercial litigation matters that included business disputes, intellectual property, and constitutional claims.

On the Superior Court, Judge Will presides over trial court matters and brings experience in appellate advocacy and government litigation to his judicial work. His memberships include the New Hampshire Supreme Court Attorney Discipline Hearings Panel, the New Hampshire Judicial Performance Evaluation Advisory Committee, and the New Hampshire Bar Association Committee on Cooperation with Courts. He had also served on the New Hampshire Judicial Council.
Judge Will received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his J.D. from Boston College Law School.
