Thanks to voters for coming out this election. Here is a brief update on where things stand, the City Clerk will certify election results in December.

City Council: Three City Council seats were up for election in 2026. The County Registrar of Voters is still processing ballots and the City Clerk will certify the official election results in December. Track unprocessed ballot counts and unofficial election results.

Measure J: Preliminary election results show a close race for the City of Palo Alto Community Safety/Services Measure that would authorize a 0.5% (one-half of one percent) increase to the City's sales tax, generating an estimated $15.6 million per year in revenues. In June 2026, the City Council passed a resolution adopting advisory spending guidelines to use the proceeds to purchase seven-acres from the Palo Alto Unified School District and modernize the Cubberley Community Center, and advancing renovations on some existing buildings, new construction, and new outdoor spaces.

Recycle Election Yard Signs: As a reminder, you can recycle election yard signs. Simply remove the plastic from the metal stand and place both in the recycle bin. Find a guide on recycling tips noting what goes where.

The City Clerk will share certified election results through their weekly newsletter. Sign up to receive election information and City Council, board, commission, and committee meeting agendas.
