"We strongly condemn the ongoing severe attacks on Ukraine, particularly those targeting civilians and energy infrastructure. We must support Ukraine to the best of our ability. In addition to providing military aid, Slovenia is helping Ukraine with humanitarian and development projects. During my recent visit, I saw these Slovenian projects first-hand and was shocked by the enormous daily struggles and terrible sacrifices faced by the people in this war-torn country," said Minister Fajon.

Regarding the peace plan for Ukraine, Minister Fajon expressed her support for President Trump's efforts and welcomed the progress on negotiations between the US and Ukraine. At the same time, she stressed that the ultimate goal must be to preserve Ukraine's vital interests and the security of Europe. "The path to peace is not possible without Ukraine. Slovenia advocates and will always advocate first and foremost peace, dialogue and the search for a political solution, respect for international law and the UN Charter," she said.

With regard to Russia, Minister Fajon argued that strengthening the deterrence and defence position is vital, as is continued support for the imposition of restrictive measures against Russia, in order to put additional pressure on Moscow.

She also emphasised the importance of maintaining close cooperation with the Western Balkans to ensure regional stability, support the progress of these countries on their Euro-Atlantic and EU integration paths, and thus limit malicious influences in this part of the world.

Minister Fajon concluded with an appeal regarding peace efforts in the Middle East and the latest UN Security Council resolution on Gaza. Slovenia supported this resolution, which she said represented a turning point after two years of terrible suffering. "We call on all parties to respect the ceasefire. We would also like to reaffirm our unwavering support for a two-state solution, with Israel and Palestine living side by side in peace and security."

Minister Fajon also attended the NATO-Ukraine Council meeting alongside Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and EU High Representative Kaja Kallas. During the meeting, which focused on current events, Ukraine's urgent needs and peace initiatives, the Slovenian Foreign Minister reaffirmed Slovenia's commitment to supporting Ukraine in its defence against Russian aggression and expressed solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
