The policy on Complying with Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (Interim)has been approved and effective as of January 8, 2025. Below are the highlights of the policy:

This policy establishes institutional oversight and compliance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act, and its companion regulations at 43 C.F.R. Part 10.
Section 2- WWU employees must obtain advanced written approval from the NAGPRA Program and Collections Manager before, displaying on campus and/or during courses, or storing objects or items that are subject to NAGPRA in the University.
Section 2- Teaching with objects subject to NAGPRA requires advanced approval from NAGPRA Program and Collections Manager. This requirement applies regardless of if the collection is within the possession, control, or custody of WWU or a private collection.
