Ambassador Hagemann expressed her honour at representing the European Union and reaffirmed the EU's commitment to a strong, forward-looking partnership with Zimbabwe. She highlighted the EU's readiness to deepen cooperation in key areas including trade, investment, agriculture, governance, women's empowerment, and the sustainable management of natural resources.

She underscored the EU's support for Zimbabwe's ambition to expand trade and investment, noting the steady rise in EU-Zimbabwe trade and Zimbabwe's duty-free, quota-free access to the EU's Single Market under the Economic Partnership Agreement. She also reiterated the EU's continued engagement in the arrears clearance and governance processes, which is a means to gain investor trust and to restore investor confidence aimed at unlocking international finance.

Ambassador Hagemann said she looks forward to engaging widely across Zimbabwe and working closely with the Government and people of Zimbabwe to strengthen an inclusive, sustainable, and mutually beneficial partnership.
