Brief Description of Proposed Project:
The Denali Highway is groomed for winter traffic (snow machine, skiing, dog mushing, etc) from January 1 to around May when DOT opens the road.The Denali Highway Trails Club (DHTC) has now taken over a 68 mile stretch but is leasing the groomers from the lodges. DHTC would like to apply for funding to purchase its own groomer and keep the highway groomed once a week (as has been the standard) for the season, allowing for safe passage for anyone who travels the highway. This includes recreational riders going to the lodges or their private cabins, dog mushers training for races, individuals going ice fishing, skiers, fat tire bike groups, running groups, etc.
