NJIT Wins Two of Three at Seton Hall Classic as Highlanders Take Down Pirates

The NJIT women's volleyball team defeats Seton Hall 3-1 to pick up third win of the season and second straight win as the Highlanders win two of three at Seton Hall Classic.

The first set between the Highlanders and the Pirates was as competitive and action packed as you can ask for in the opening set of a match. Both teams did not have a lead more than three points throughout the entire first set. The Highlanders were able to maintain their lead late in the set and came away with an opening set win to start off the afternoon.

The intensity and style of play from set one carried over into set two where the Pirates led for most of the set however the Highlanders rallied late to tie it up at 24 each. Despite the Highlanders' efforts, the Pirates were able to score the last two points of the set to secure the set win and tie the match up.

Set three was heavily controlled by the Pirates who held a sizable lead but the Highlanders no quit style of play that has been showcased all season long was on full display where the Highlanders were able to tie the set up at 24. Unlike set two, the Highlanders were able to rally and secure the set win thanks to a massive spike from Sophomore to put the Highlanders ahead two sets to one.

The fourth and final set of the match had the Highlanders in the lead from the start and finished off with an electric finish to secure their second win a row.
This is the second time in program history that the Highlanders have defeated the Pirates.

NJIT will travel to Bethlehem, Pa for the Steel Classic Tournament where the Highlanders are set to play three matches. Matches one and two are Sept. 12 where the Highlanders will play Valparaiso at 2:30 p.m. and Lehigh at 6:30 p.m. and match three is Sept. 13 against Sacred Heart at 4 p.m. to close out the weekend.
