The City of Mesa has appointed Joe Giudice as its new Water Resources Director. Giudice officially stepped into the role on Feb. 23, following the retirement of Chris Hassert. The department plays a critical role in ensuring safe, reliable water service for Mesa residents and businesses.

"Joe brings decades of public sector leadership experience and a deep commitment to service," said City Manager Scott Butler. "His experience in utilities, environmental programs and public works makes him exceptionally well-suited to lead Mesa Water Resources. We're confident he will build on the strong foundation established by Chris and our Water Resources team."

Guidice brings more than three decades of leadership in environmental quality, public works and utility services, focused on protecting public health and delivering essential city services. He most recently served as Mesa's Deputy Solid Waste Director.

Prior to joining Mesa, he completed a distinguished career with the City of Phoenix, retiring as Public Works Director after also serving as Assistant Water Services Director, Director of Environmental Programs and Fleet Services Director.

Giudice began his public service career at the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality, where he developed a passion for environmental stewardship and safeguarding community health. Throughout his career, he has focused on building high-performing teams and delivering reliable, customer-focused utility services.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue serving the residents of my hometown of Mesa alongside the dedicated and talented professionals in our Water Resources Department," said Giudice. "Our team is focused on safeguarding our community's water supply, protecting public health and ensuring every drop is delivered and treated safely and reliably. I look forward to continuing our responsible stewardship of this vital resource for Mesa today and for generations to come."
